for the mr. spork in all of us...

Considering my status as a fully employed IT guy, more specifically a IT security guy there are many stereotypes that usually exist for people such as myself. Usually we love to play video games, are raving gadget whores, can quote Star Wars, and consider the "History of Star Trek" worthy of a 400 level college course. Well sorry to disappoint folks but besides my raving gadget whore status I don't really know much about the other required knowledge areas of my demographic. The truth is, I've watched and enjoyed Star Wars a few times throughout my life but don't own any of them and the only quote I know is, "Luke, I am your father", which I'm pretty sure doesn't constitute any level of Star Wars knowledge. Until a month or so ago I had never watched more than a handful of Star Trek episodes either, but since then my father-in-law moved in and we have been watching an episode of Star Trek Voyager almost every evening. This has been a learning experience in itself, but what I find much more entertaining is listening to my father-in-law mock the show. I'm pretty sure he watches it just to make fun it. His favorite game to play is to mispronounce and rename characters, which sounds pretty dumb but when you put into the context of the show is hilarious. My personal favorite goes something like this.....

"I'd hate to be the janitor of holodeck after that Twovak, Chiptole, and the Space Harlet, Janeway went a round or two"

I will see your Mr. Spork and raise you a Admiral Adam's Apple.

And if you don't watch Battlestar Galatica you really don't get that joke...
