odd dreams

Two nights ago I had the oddest dream and I thought I would share it with you all. I know some of you look up the meanings of you dreams, but I don’t bother. I know some of my dreams tell the future….future insignificant moments that don’t make any sense till they actually happen and other dreams that are just pointless. So on with the oddity that was my dream…

It was dark and temperate night, so temperate that climate was of no significance, and the time was late, most likely early morning, roughly between 1 to 3 am in the morning. I was walking out of what appeared to be a bar or club, located in an industrial area, a place that reminded me of the shipyards in Seattle or the refinery areas of Baltimore. The bar was busy and parking was slim as cars were jammed in and around the building, parked in any haphazard way they would fit. I left the bar alone, but with my good friend B about twenty paces behind, walking to what I assumed was my car, but to be honest we were just walking away from the bar.

As I was about 200 feet from the bar when I was stopped by four men blocking the path to my car, face-to-face with these surly gentlemen, they demanded my wallet in a very after school TV special manner. You know what I’m talking about, four guys in flannel shirts, gold chains, mustaches, and bandannas demanding my wallet. So this is were my real subconscious comes out, after they demand my wallet I told them “why I don’t just give you the cash, because canceling all my credit and debit cards is a real pain in the ass.” At this time I look back to see B turning back to the bar, leaving me all alone to have my ass handed to me by these fine fellows. The would be thieves realizing I'm looking for aid, again demanded my wallet but this time I attempted to negotiate by telling them “B just went back into the bar to cancel the credit cards and they will be of no use to them, so just take the cash.” On this comment they all seemed extremely agitated and on the verge of breaking me into small pieces of me, but then I glanced back to see B wielding a 8 lbs sledge hammer, upside down swinging the handle around like Ryne Sandberg, the golden glove second baseman of the late 80’s Chicago Cubs. In a matter of seconds B took to the hooligans like softballs in a homerun derby, finishing the last guy with a very Leonitus-esqe sledge flipping crush to the ribcage, finally utilizing the business end of the hammer.

At this point I woke up, stressed out beyond belief and happy that I could go back to sleep with a sliver of peace of mind left. As I laid by head back on the pillow my alarm went off, it was time to get up.

I am amused that your subconscious mind expects 4 thugs to think rationally about the difficulties of securing your credit.

The credit card negotiations with the robbers was classic Cody. I could see that happening in real life.
And, who couldn't see me taking them down like Andre Dawson? I'm always there to save your lunch!
